In related news, I’ve ordered this wireless flash trigger! It should arrive next week some time. I’ve been doing some fiddling with the flash set on completely manual, as I’m not going to get any of the automatic camera metering with the flash on the trigger.
if she’s seriously into the camera you should get her one of the fisher price ones that you can chuck around and what have you but still take actual photos
