Well, that was an interesting surprise. I logged into my internet banking just now and found a $2120 charge on my credit card.

Turns out it’s the application charge for the visa for kungfupolarbear. The Immigration department website said it was AU$1420 or US$1420. Obviously the AU$1420 is the better way to go, but apparently if the application is lodged outside the Australia they use the currency of whatever country the application is lodged in. Oops.

But on the bright side, the application only arrived at the Australian embassy in Washington yesterday, and they’ve gotten to it already!

I was up at Mum and Dad’s this evening and took some photos of the clouds as the sun was going down. I think they came out very well!

While we’re on the topic of photography, I’m getting a Canon Speedlite 580EX II external flash for Christmas! (No, my parents aren’t so well off that they’re paying for the whole thing… I’m putting some money in for it too ;)). I’ve been busy reading up on photography techniques and what all the different terms mean, so I’m excited to see the difference an external flash will make for my photos!

I’ve also added some more pics to the Lily album! These were all taken during kungfupolarbear‘s visit. Some of them are already in the various sets I put up on Flickr so I won’t include them there.

The last four are me getting arty with the “Night Snaphot” mode on my camera… it gives a long exposure time but also fires the flash. I really like how they came out!

So, kungfupolarbear is at the airport and probably just boarding now. We had some unexpected awesomeness at the check-in line… despite that ridiculously rude woman saying we’d have to pay AU$311 on Saturday for the flight change, the lady at the check-in line said it’d been paid already?! So we got an extra four days for nothing! 😀 She was really nice, too.

I’m definitely feeling a bit down, but nowhere near as much as when she left here last time, or when I left Boston in August. I’d say it’s because I know that she’s going to be back here permanently, and hopefully within just a few months.

I’m still squeeing over the fact that we’re engaged!! I’ve found the love of my life and we’re getting married! 😀

I’m currently at mum and dad’s, as my car is in at the mechanic just up the road to get looked at for an odd rattling/squeaking noise it keeps making. Once I’m home I’ll get onto organising and uploading the photos we took to Flickr.

(P.S. SQUEE!)

We are engaged!!!

Squee!!!

I was going to wait until we went to the Blue Mountains, or at least something all romantic, but we were lying in bed yesterday afternoon and just snuggling, and I was thinking “Good god I’m going to burst if I don’t ask her!”. And being all curled up and snuggly just sums us up perfectly anyway. 🙂 And she totally knew I wouldn’t be able hold off asking her for very long, hehehe.

We went engagement ring shopping today and picked out an absolutely gorgeous one. No pics yet, as it’s going to get resized and we’ll pick it up next Monday.

I seriously have never ever been this happy before. SQUEE! 😀 😀

You know when you were a little kid and it was Christmas Eve, and you’d be all excited and just wanting the day to hurry up and finish so it could be Christmas? I’m feeling like that at the moment, as my beautiful kungfupolarbear arrives at the airport at 8am tomorrow!

Squee!!

And now to bed, and hoping I’m not too excited to fall asleep!
